The next SpringCon - 27: The Pathway Games Convention is coming!
Where and When
It is in The Wellspring Church Centre in the centre of Watford:
The Living Room,
The Wellspring Church Centre,
1, Wellspring Way,
WD17 2AH (just behind Watford Museum on the Lower High Street - The Lower High Street is on the left of the Watford ring road just opposite to the pyramid-shaped shop on the right)
It will be in The Wellspring on Saturday the 27th of October 2018 between 10am and 8pm - And again, a full 10 hours!!!!
There is a change to SpringCon now - there is now an ENTRANCE FEE of £5 each for adults - children still free. This is because the Wellspring Centre is looking to expand and they are looking to raise £2m to pay for the extension in 2020. I would not have liked to add this fee, but the centre needs to raise some money for this project.
We hope to provide a heads up soon for the dates of SpringCon next year.
What Sort of Board Games and Board Gamers are Expected at SpringCon?
Come along as an experienced player and try some new games. Come along as a novice and try out some games. Some of the games will be very quick (15-20 minutes), some will be long (an hour) and some people will take the opportunity to play for hours. It is up to you as to what you play and if you want to know what sorts of games will be played, see the list below. Details of other excellent board games can be found on the Board Game Geek website.
If you REALLY want to make sure that a game is available, please bring it! We have a number of games ready to play, but we tend to find that people bring their own.
Entrance is FREE.
Pre-registration is mandatory so that we know how many will be attending (and to arrange the size of room provided). The difference this time is that registration is done via Board Game Geek - join the Guild and please and post if and when you will arrive. The guild that you need to join is this one. If you do not already have an account on BGG, then you can find it here. Just post a response on the News Forum for the event that you want to register for and that is it!
Again, there will be teas and coffees for the duration of the event, however, the Centre is also superbly situated near a Tesco's and Boot's (within 5 minute's walk) for more substantial meals. Maps available here.
Travel and Parking
There is parking for about 13 cars available at The Wellspring Centre and most get to park for FREE without a problem, however, we have a travel leaflet here, if you want to find alternatives. To get there, use the SatNav postcode of WD17 2AH.
Directions (if you don't like SatNav directions!)
The best way to get to the Wellspring Centre from the roundabout over the A41 and M1 (Junction 5) is to take the A4008 (Stephenson Way) to Watford Town Centre. You can filter off left (indicated as Watford Town Centre, Bushey and Oxhey A4008) to miss out the next roundabout (or go straight over). You will then go under a train viaduct just after the speed reduces to 40mph. On the next roundabout (the Waterfields Roundabout), take the second exit (into Watford Town Centre - A411) and you will see the Harlequin Shopping Centre in front of you. At the traffic lights in front of the Harlequin, stay in the left lane, but DO NOT turn left at the next set of traffic lights (Water Lane, but unlabelled with a height restriction). Go straight on in the left-hand lane and then turn left into the Lower High Street (sign-posted as "Watford Museum" and "Pump House"). The Watford High Street train station is now on your right and at the mini-roundabout turn right in just next to the Watford Museum. You will see the Wellspring Centre in front of you and to your right, as a faceted glass-fronted building.
